Job Description

We are currently seeking a Fiber Optic Technician to be based in Corona, CA. The Fiber Optic Technician will fabricate optical fiber to specification. This involves working with Engineers to develop the process of fabricating optical fibers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Work with manufacturing engineers to build glass preform which includes mixing of various chemicals, melting, and heating.

· Work with manufacturing engineers in the process fiber draw and extrusion

· Develop along with manufacturing engineers in testing fibers per specification

· Required to fill out associated documents and test reports.

Skills & Experience


5-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment

Successful and proven experience in a technical position within a manufacturing or lab environment.

Demonstrated ability to use hand tools and operate manufacturing equipment

Experience with data collection and interpretation using PC applications and mathematics

Experience operating test equipment including precision instrumentation

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and issues effectively.

Successful candidate should have the ability to function independently with minimal supervision with strong attention to detail and follow up and completion of assigned action items.

Good written and verbal communications skills

Sound decision making skills

Must be proactive, results driven and have strong attention to detail

Self-starter with strong work ethic with the ability to exercise good judgement


Knowledge of Fiber Optic manufacturing process and product attributes.

Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Experience with hazardous materials

Experience in a clean-room environment

Must have good manual dexterity

Vacuum deposition experience is a plus

Optical / Draw Tower experience is a plus

Some Experience with MS-Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).


Two year degree or some college. Five or more years experience producing medical device assemblies . Optical assembly background in electromechanical/optical assembly. Small part work using microscopes and small hand tools.
