The Chief Dental Officer (CDO) is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, serving as clinical and business partner to help the company capitalize on its exciting technology. The CDO will keep abreast of emerging models in dental care delivery and identify innovative strategies to shape the industry and achieve Company goals and objectives. In addition to providing input on strategy and operating decisions, this executive will be responsible for supporting the Company’s educational program, including the development of curricula and training content. This executive will also provide clinical customer support and lead clinical research efforts. Additionally, the CDO will deliver training and represent the Company in industry associations. This position reports to the President and CEO. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Participate in the development of education philosophy, curricula and program

• Develop and deliver product training content in conjunction with Product Management/Marketing

• Lead and manage clinical research efforts in conjunction with appropriate R&D resources

• Develop and manage Clinical Customer Support

• Serve as company clinical representative to relevant industry associations (e.g., ALD, AAP, WFLD, WCLI, etc.)

• Prepare and deliver training courses, as needed 

• Occasionally visit offices for “in office” training


This position requires overnight travel, approximately 50%. Some international travel is required.

Skills & Experience

Education: Degree in dentistry is required (DMD,DDS, or equivalent), along with a dental license to practice within the U.S. 

Experience: The BIOLASE Chief Dental Officer requires a talented dental professional with experience as a licensed practicing clinician in the US, with a minimum of a 10-year track record of excellence in clinical practice, leadership in academia, to include educational training and research; engagement with the dental community (connections with Dental Service Organizations and/or active in dental study clubs, as examples), and experience consulting for organizations in the dental industry is required. Strongly prefer a General Dentist/General Practitioner with knowledge of and use of lasers to include Waterlase and diode practical experience.
